Wherever you are, be all there

So powerful and so easily said, but does anyone else often find it hard to do in a world that encourages us to think about the next thing? 🙋🏼‍♀️

➡️This afternoon as we walked along Wells beach in the sunshine, I suddenly felt like I had lots of notifications pop up in my mind- random things I need to remember or do, things happening today, tomorrow, next week. The stream of notifications took me away from the present moment as I then started to think about how I would deal with x and when I intend to complete y. I realised it was distracting me from the moment I was in. So I sat down for a while, took a little mindful moment and closed my eyes to listen to the beach sounds. When I opened my eyes, this was my view ⬆️.

🐕 Charlie’s happy face instantly reminded me of what it’s like to live in the moment, he doesn’t worry about what’s on his to-do list for next Tuesday or what might happen in the future, he just soaks up the here and now and enjoys every second. I knew I needed to be more like him.

❎So, inspired by Charlie, I actively made the decision to switch my mind to ‘Do not Disturb’, just as we might do with our phones. It meant that I would not allow any more notifications to come through on my walk and I can honestly say, I derived bucket loads more enjoyment from this seaside stroll because of it. I felt like I ‘switched off’ and could just focus on enjoying the walk more mindfully, noticing and absorbing the sights, sounds and the sunshine. I felt ‘all there’ and not ‘all in the future!’

📱So this is your little reminder that it’s always okay to put your phone and your mind on ‘Do not Disturb’. In doing so it will make ‘wherever you are, be all there’ more possible and you will derive so much more happiness from the present moment.
