Do you ever feel like a problem seems too difficult to be solved or as when one door closes, another one just doesn’t open for you?
I know I definitely do and it can lead to feeling stuck. Today I felt quite overwhelmed, so I decided to go for a little walk around Burnham Market with Charlie- walking helps me to think.
Down the quietest little road, we came across this beautiful door. It instantly reminded me of the ‘when one door closes, another one opens’ quote. I thought about how sometimes it feels like it’s too difficult to open a door or solve a problem, it can feel like it won’t happen or the solution is too hard to find. But I decided that this mindset is not helpful for me and after noticing the name of the house, I tried to look at things from a different angle.
I then had these thoughts…
🚪 A door is much smaller compared to the house.
🔒 A lock is much smaller compared to the door itself.
🔑 A key is the smallest thing of all but yet it can literally unlock a whole house and even the heaviest of doors.
I realised that perhaps the smallest change or step can actually be or lead to the solution for solving a problem. The solution doesn’t have to be something massive or overwhelmingly complicated, it could be the smallest action that can hold the key to unlocking the door or solving a problem. And I can honestly say that noticing this suddenly made things feel less overwhelming.
🔑 The smallest action could be anything…thinking about the problem from different angles, making the smallest change, sharing the problem with others, sending an email, making a phone call, deciding to go for it, asking someone for advice, gathering more information, changing a habit, believing in yourself a bit more….So if you ever feel like doors don’t open for you or a problem is too difficult to overcome, please remember you don’t need to find a giant ground-breaking solution which is complex or complicated, we just need to break things down and consider the smaller steps we can realistically take, ultimately they are the keys we need to unlock the door.
