About the walk

Large 354 acre park with 100 acre lake as a centerpiece. Fully paved trail with a few dirt paths as off-shoots, with 3 large dog park enclosures with lots of shade and water/hoses/dog bowls provided. There are two entrances to the park, one on each side. For those who want to walk around the whole lake, there are multiple picnic and restroom areas around the lake, with covered shelters great for hot days and getting stuck in downpours. All dogs must be on-leash when not in dog park, trail is shared with walkers and bicycles. Be advised that in order to completely circle the park, you have to walk along one portion of the trail does run parallel to a large road but you are at a safe distance. Park website provides map, audio guide and other features.

Facilities Available

Shared-use trail, bathrooms, water fountains, Dog Park, 8 picnic shelters with grills, boat ramp (non-motorized), fishing platforms, fitness area, multiple parking areas.

Accessibility

Very accessible, flat paved trails and handicapped toilets, but dog park would be difficult for wheelchairs due to wood chips and uneven ground.

Additional Notes

Open 7 days a week, 7 a.m. to sunset, closed the day after Thanksgiving and December 25. Dogs should be on a 6-ft leash as bicycles can come up fast around curves, and there are more e-bikes in use these days which travel at faster speeds (there is a posted 10mph speed limit).

Why the submitter loves this walk

With beautiful lake views, tall pine trees and oaks and all manner of wildlife to encounter...reptiles to waterfowl, you feel like you're getting the best of Florida in one place. This park is large enough that you feel far removed from the city around you and the trails are very peaceful. Lots to see and sniff!
