Digley and Blackpool Bridge

About the walk

From the car park in Digley Quarry go up the steps in the banking towards the reservoir to join a walled lane, turn right uphill slightly and follow the lane as it descends towards a point where it is fenced across. Keep right here leading to a flight of steps. Descend the steps and follow the obvious path along a walled lane. Follow this lane for approximately 315 metres to where it forks. There is a seat here between the two lanes. Bear right, up the hill, and follow the lane around a right turn to a T-junction. Turn left and follow a walled lane for just under a mile. Other old tracks split off periodically but there is never any doubt which is the main one. You will go over a cattle grid. The track has stream alongside it. Passing Goodbent Lodge on the left continue along the lane until you reach the fourth field on the left. Turn left over the stone stile (there is an hole in the gate which is easier for some dogs) and head straight down the field with the wall on your right. Leave the field via a stile alongside the gate at the bottom and join a track which slants leftwards down the hillside to a bridge over the stream. Go over the bridge and follow the path up the hill. You will walk over the Moor, with duckboards over the boggy bits. Follow the track until you come to a junction. At the junction bear left. This track becomes walled and turns into issues road. Follow this track. It will eventually become Meal Hill. At this point you can take a left path back to the reservoir, or you can continue down into Holme Village, where there are facilities. In the village follow the road back ver the reservoir banking to the quarry car park.
